This week my subject was architecture. I was in Chicago over the weekend so I took a lot of pictures of the intricate buildings there.
Assignment description: Architectural features of buildings and structures are highlighted in this photo assignment.
Here is my best picture. I thought this was a good architecture picture because you can see the design of the building and you can see how the style is much different than that of the surrounding buildings. I thought the detail was interesting, and that the subject stands out.
This week I chose Still Life/Product. I took pictures of things that I set up to make the picture look good.
Assignment description: A photo of subject(s) that you have arranged, much like an advertising type picture. Often shot in a studio setting using studio lighting techniques (demo shortly).
My best picture was of a clock, and I set up a jar that was tipped over with some change falling out in the background:
We took portraits of each other in groups of three. One of each of ours were taken in the studio, and the other was taken by the window (the cheaper alternative).
I learned how to stitch together and edit 3 photos in Gimp, creating a panoramic photo. You should use a tripod, and overlap your photos for the best product. On Gimp, I used tools like the eraser, and clone, to touch up my photos so they looked like one big picture.
For this assignment I chose to take 50 or more pictures of Black and White. I tried to take pictures of things that had an interesting perspective for black and white, and had a good amount of light reflecting off of the pictures so that there was enough contrast between the two.
Assignment description: Some images lend themselves well to being portrayed in Black and White. Showcase your strongest B&W work here. How creative can you be?
My best picture was of a flower and I thought it looked good in black and white because it showed the beauty of the picture but was very simple so you don't get distracted.
My first assignment that I am turning in is Macro. I tried my best to capture the tiny details when something is looked at closely. Some of my pictures include the raindrops on a flower petal, and the details on piano keys.
Assignment description: Photography close up. Use the "Macro" settings on the camera and reveal details not often seen.
This is the picture I selected as my best:
ISO: 125, Aperture: f/2.8, Shutter Speed: 1/100 sec.
